Jonah Kuhlman

Jonah Kuhlman

Before Jonah could even talk he was playing the Hammered Dulcimer with the help of his Grandfather (Beepa). At the age of 7 Jonah began to seriously play the dulcimer and to perform in front of audiences. He put out his first solo album at the age of 11 entitled, "Just for You".

Jonah began playing the guitar at age 13.

He has excelled playing both of these instruments and continues to please audiences at Chasin' Steel shows.

After graduating from Midland High school, Jonah along with his brother Jacob, headed to Northern Michigan University where he studied in libation for several years. Eventually Jonah changed his focus and majored in Aviation Maintenance which he now has a degree in. This comes in handy when the bus breaks down on the side of the road. NMU is also where Jonah met his lovely wife, Katie. They have one child (thus far), a son named Wyatt. Hey wait a minute... he kinda looks more like Jacob..... hmmmmmm. Best play the guitar boy... not that banjar thing.

Jonah Kuhlman

Jonah, like the rest of the band, also enjoys the outdoors and spends his spare time fishing around the Marquette area as well as joining his brother Jacob on primitive blackpowder shoots and hunts. He also enjoys "Muddin" in his Jeep CJ-7 through the backcountry of the U.P.

Along with his breathtaking abilities on the hammered dulcimer, Jonah sings the buttery baritone vocal harmony part and has fine tuned the art of powerful rhythm guitar playing. His rhythm guitar is the unsung force behind the drive that defines the Chasin' Steel sound. If you have the ear, you will hear the influences and similarities to rhythm guitar masters such as del McCoury and Jimmy Martin. You gotta love that signature "G" Run.

Jonah plays a 1980 Taylor 710 with Custom GHS 80/20 Bronze strings and J & K Dulcimers
